The Maylands Business Centre was officially opened on 12 June 2011 by the Right Honourable Eric Pickles. We provide offices and light industrial units to start-up businesses and companies looking to move into their first commercial premises.
Sustainability has been a key objective in the design of the scheme which makes maximum use of natural lighting and ventilation as well as high performance insulation materials to keep carbon emissions to a minimum. The centre benefits from an electric car charging point which has recently been installed and is available for use, through booking, by anyone with an electric operated vehicle. The Centre also runs a green policy with its use of a Bio Mass boiler for heating and solar panels which will be installed on the roof in the coming few months.
The Centre has two Electric Vehicle charging points providing power for both tenants and the wider community.
The aim for the centre is to assist our businesses to grow and develop to a stage where they are ready to move into private commercial properties within three years. This support is extended to those businesses who cannot yet take the step into commercial premises, through our hot desks, mail handling and virtual office facilities available.
One of the many ways we can help you establish your business is by providing units and offices at lower than commercial rents, which coupled with the support services to be based at the centre will allow new businesses every opportunity to flourish.
A high level of business support and advice is on hand to assist you in achieving growth and enhance new businesses rates of survival past 12 months. There is a highly successful café where tenants and the local community can come for lunch and informal meetings, providing a “Community centre for business” local business can meet there and use the facility and also contact partner organisations.
The centre has a large meeting room which can be rented out on an hourly basis by both tenants and the wider business community. There is space and the facilities for all to meet, train and network. There is ample parking for all the resident organisations and their visitors and the innovation and incubation buildings benefit from WiFi connections.
